About Karris

Born to Ride

Born to Ride

Karris Golden is a full-time professional writer, editor and award-winning journalist. In addition to a thriving freelance writing and speaking career, she serves as executive editor at W&A Publishing.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism and electronic media from Wartburg College. After college, she joined the staff at the Waterloo/Cedar Falls Courier
, where she was associate editor until August 2001.

While working the Courier, Karris attended graduate school and earned a Master of Arts degree in English literature and creative writing. Her thesis, The Place My Words Are Looking For, won the University of Northern Iowa’s first place award for Outstanding Creative Master’s Thesis.

In 2001, Karris went to part-time status at The Courier and continues to write On Faith. She appreciates the open dialogue she maintains with readers and welcomes letters and e-mails. Karris also enjoys meeting readers at her speaking engagements.

In her free time, Karris enjoys reading, writing, motorcycling, bicycling, canoeing and traveling. She's also an amateur photographer, and her photos have accompanied her writing. In August 2006, two of Karris' photos were exhibited at the Iowa State Fair Zoey on Springer and Howdy Do!
In 2005, her photo, Born to Ride (thumbnail above), was selected for the Iowa State Fair exhibition.
