Karris is a skilled presenter and has experience working with groups of all sizes; her largest audience included more than 34,000 people. Karris works with event organizers to develop presentations tailored to meet the specific needs of your group or organization. Her presentations often include Power Point and other multimedia tools. Possible topics include but are not limited to leadership; crisis communications; inclusivity and diversity; identity shaping; empowerment; and finding balance. Karris' audiences are often comprised of groups of teenagers, young adults, women of all ages, people of color and senior citizens.

Harlem Renaissance, Waverly, Iowa
February 2008 Keep on Learning community education program

Keep on Learning is a college-based community, adult education program that introduces participants to a wide variety of topics and areas of interests.
Karris developed four two-hour, multimedia programs on the Harlem Renaissance or "New Negro Movement." The programs included: introduction, overview and history; musicians and entertainers; literature; and the visual arts. Karris selected the theme and submitted a class proposal to the Keep on Learning selection committee. After the session was approved, Karris provided participants with a comprehensive introduction to this part of U.S. history and culture. She also followed up with interested participants who requested a reading list and is planning a related book discussion group for late spring 2008.

CASE is an international organization for advancement, alumni relations and communication and marketing professionals who work for educational institutions.
Karris developed a one-hour, interactive multimedia workshop presentation for this event. Karris selected the topic and submitted a proposal to conference organizers. The presentation included stylistic guidelines and advice for unbiased, inclusive institutional writing. She made her presentation available for participants to adapt for use at their institutions.

2006 Multicultural Youth Leadership Event (MYLE), Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

MYLE is a precursor to the ELCA Triennial Youth Gathering, the world's largest church-based youth event.
Karris developed a keynote program based on a predetermined theme provided by the hosting organization. The overall event theme, "La Luz: The Light Shines on for MYLES," included four sub-themes. Karris' theme was "Growth," and she created her 20-minute multimedia keynote address around that theme, tying together biblical themes and passages, personal stories and other information.

This event is designed to recognize students' accomplishments at this culturally diverse, urban school. Karris served as keynote speaker for the event and was asked to prepare a presentation that would make the students feel empowered, capable and motivated. Her message also had to resonate with parents, teachers and other community members in attendance.

Karris prepared a 70-minute workshop, which she presented twice at this event. The multimedia, interactive program she prepared was geared toward "women who do too much." Karris offered tips, tools and resources to help attendees maintain a healthy balance and take time for themselves. (Karris has also researched and written extensively on this topic.)

Karris developed a one-hour workshop, which she presented twice during the event. Organizers asked her to create a presentation for high school-aged youth of color interested in careers in the media, particularly different types of writing. Her multimedia, interactive workshop offered resources, tools and tips for attendees.

For this presentation for a senior citizens group, Karris prepared and presented a 30-minute multimedia presentation that included photos, historical information and anecdotes from her July 2006 trip to Reformation sites in Germany.

Karris' presentation was part of a yearlong diversity luncheon series for college faculty and professionals. She was allowed to select her topic, providing that it pertained to issues of diversity. Karris designed a 30-minute multimedia, interactive presentation to introduce attendees to issues surrounding bi- and multiracial/multiethnic otherness.
